Four Months Left. What Do You Really Want From 2026?
October 9, 2026 · 4 min read
There are four months left in this year. Not a lot. Not a little. Just enough time to stop pretending and get honest about what you actually want the rest of 2026 to be. Most women will read that sentence and immediately soften it in their heads. They will tell themselves it's fine, they'll figure it out in January, there's always next year. But next year is what you said last year. And the year before that. The reason nothing changes is not because you don't have time. It's because you keep letting the time pass without making a real decision about it.
Stop Waiting for January
January is a lie you tell yourself so you don't have to do anything now. You promise yourself that in the new year you'll be different, you'll finally start, you'll finally stop, you'll finally choose. But the woman who shows up in January is the same woman sitting there in September. She has the same fears. The same excuses. The same reasons not to. The calendar changing does not change you. Only you change you. And you can change you starting today just as easily as you can starting January first. The date is not the obstacle. You are.
Look at What You Actually Did This Year
Before you talk about what you want next, look honestly at what happened. Not the highlight reel. Not the version you post about. What did you actually do this year? What did you say you would do and then didn't? What did you keep tolerating? What did you keep putting off? Sit with the real answer, not the polished one. Most women can't name what they want from the rest of the year because they haven't been honest about what they've been avoiding all year. The honesty comes first. The clarity comes after.
Get Specific About What You Want
"I want to be happier" is not a goal. It is a wish. Wishes don't change lives. Specifics do. What would happier actually look like in your Tuesday afternoon? What would you be doing that you're not doing now? What would you have stopped doing? Every woman I know can list what she doesn't want. Very few can name what she actually wants with the same clarity. That vagueness is not accidental. It's a way of protecting yourself from ever having to admit you didn't go after it. Stop protecting yourself from your own desires. Name them.
Notice What You Keep Choosing Instead
If you say you want rest but you keep saying yes to everything, rest is not what you're actually choosing. If you say you want a promotion but you never advocate for yourself in the room, the promotion is not what you're actually choosing. If you say you want a different relationship but you keep having the same fights and never leaving, something else is being chosen. This is not a shame exercise. It is a truth exercise. What you consistently choose is what you actually want, or what you're too afraid to stop wanting. Both are worth naming.
Pick Two Things and Move on Them
Not ten. Not five. Two. Pick two things you want the rest of 2026 to include and start moving on them this week. Not this month. This week. Small movement counts. Send the email. Book the appointment. Have the conversation. Cancel the thing you've been dreading. The action doesn't have to be big. It just has to be real. Four months is enough time to shift the trajectory of a year if you stop waiting to feel ready and start doing the small honest thing in front of you.
The Real Question
The real question is not what you want from the rest of 2026. The real question is who you want to be when you close this year out. What kind of woman do you want to look back and see? Because that woman is being built right now, in the choices you make in September, October, November, December. She is not waiting for you in January. She is showing up in every hour of every day that's left. Four months is a lot of hours. Use them.
