About the Event

The Emotional Skills Nobody Taught You at Work is a four part monthly training series for working women. Most of us were taught how to be professional, productive, and pleasant, but never taught what to do with what we actually feel on the job. Across four live sessions, you will build real, practical skills for understanding your emotions, staying composed under pressure, setting boundaries, and moving forward from what you have been carrying.

Intended Audience

Working women in any season, especially those moving through change, loss, or a demanding chapter.

What will you learn

Checkmark What emotions actually are and what they are trying to tell you
Checkmark How to stay composed and clear in high pressure moments at work
Checkmark The difference between empathy and emotional absorption, and how to set boundaries without guilt
Checkmark How to process and move forward from what you have carried too long
Checkmark Practical tools you can use the same day, not theory

  • 60 minutes of practical training and 30 minutes of open questions each session

Outline

1

Understanding What You Feel and Why It Matters

90 min

You were taught math, history, and how to be professional. You were never taught what an emotion is or what to do when one will not leave. This first session builds the foundation. What emotions actually are, why so many women were never taught to understand them, and how to start reading your own with clarity instead of confusion.

  • What emotions actually are and what they are trying to tell you
  • Why so many women were never taught to understand what they feel
  • How to name an emotion clearly, even when words are hard to find
  • The difference between feeling something and being controlled by it
  • A simple daily practice for checking in with yourself
2

Staying Composed When Work Gets Hard

90 min

You have held back tears in a meeting. You have gone quiet when you meant to speak. You have replayed a hard conversation for days. Your emotions come to work whether you invite them or not. This session is about staying composed and clear in high pressure moments, without shutting down or disconnecting from yourself to get through the day.

  • How to stay steady when a moment at work turns high pressure
  • What to do when strong emotion rises in a meeting or hard conversation
  • How to handle anger in a way that gets heard instead of dismissed
  • How to speak up clearly even when you feel shaken
  • Ways to stay connected to yourself through a demanding day
3

The Cost of Carrying Everyone Else and How to Stop

90 min

You fix it before anyone asks. You read the mood of every room and adjust to it. You say yes when you mean no and call it being supportive. Carrying everyone else has a real cost, and you have been paying it. This session is about the difference between empathy and emotional absorption, and how to stop the second one without losing the first.

  • The real difference between empathy and emotional absorption
  • How to tell which feelings are yours and which you have taken on
  • How to support the people you care about without draining yourself
  • How to set a boundary and hold it without guilt
  • What changes when you stop managing everyone else's emotions
4

Moving Forward From What You Have Been Carrying

90 min

You pushed through. You kept going. You held it together because someone had to. But it is still there. The grief you had no time for, the anger you swallowed, the disappointment you called a lesson before you were ready. This final session is about the things you have carried too long, and how to move forward from them for real rather than pushing them down again.

  • Why some emotions need to be heard before you can move on
  • How to sit with a hard feeling instead of rushing to fix it
  • How to process grief, anger, or disappointment that never got space
  • How to move forward without pretending the hard part did not happen
  • A practice for hearing yourself without judgment
